Technical regulations of the olympiad in mathematics 1. The olympiad consists of 2 days of competition. Duration of competition in each day is 5 hours. Every day the participants are given 4 problems; complete solution of each problem is worth 7 points. 2. Jury prepares the problems in Russian and English. Additionally, team leaders in the day of competition may prepare translation of the problems into other languages. Jury bears full responsibility for correctness of the problems in Russian and English. The participants using texts in other languages are advised to consult Russian and English versions when necessary. 3. Jury guarantees answers to the questions of participants during the first hour of each day of competitions. After that the answers may be ceased (though the jury will make efforts to continue answers after that time). 4. To be admitted to the competition in the junior league a student should have completed at most 9 years of secondary school. All students of secondary schools are admitted to the competition in the senior league. 5. Syllabus of the olympiad in the senior league coincides with that of International Mathematical Olympiad. Any facts used in a paper and not covered by school syllabus should be clearly stated and completely proved. Often-cited statements, like Ceva's theorem or Hall's theorem, may be used without proof with explicit permission of the jury, provided they are exactly stated in the paper. 7. The participants should bear in mind that for evaluation of papers written in language other than Russian or English the jury may require assistance of the team leader. 8. All participants will have an opportunity of seeing their graded papers and appeal if necessary. Before the demonstration of papers the jury announces the criteria of grading; these criteria are not subject to appeal. 9.
